Story of Badass Ravi Kumar Movie Review

Badass Ravi Kumar tries to be a larger-than-life action film but ends up feeling like an unintentional parody. The story, set in 1989, follows Ravi Kumar (Himesh Reshammiya), a rogue cop on a mission to retrieve a camera reel containing sensitive information. With multiple villains chasing the same intel, including Syed Bashir (Manish Wadhwa), Carlos Pedro (Prabhu Deva), and Laila (Kirti Kulhari), the film is packed with action, politics, and over-the-top drama.

The biggest issue is its messy and disjointed narrative. While action movies don’t always need logic, they do need a gripping story, which this film lacks. Instead of being thrilling, it drags on for 141 minutes, making it exhausting to watch.

Himesh Reshammiya dominates the screen but struggles in emotional moments. His dialogues feel forced, and his patriotic one-liners, like “Jo Ravi Kumar se ulajhta hai, uske photo pe haar chadh jaata hai,” may bring a quick laugh but fail to make a real impact. Prabhu Deva’s quirky villain act adds some fun, but the action scenes feel too silly for him to be a real threat. Meanwhile, talented actors like Sanjay Mishra, Johnny Lever, and Sunny Leone barely get any meaningful screen time.

The film also forces a love triangle between Ravi and two sisters, Laila and Madhubala (Simona J), but it lacks any real emotion. Simona J looks good on screen but struggles with acting, making her role one of the weakest.

With too many characters, chaotic subplots, mindless action, and exaggerated stunts, the movie turns into a confusing mess. Even though the VFX and action sequences look polished, they fail to bring the nostalgic Bollywood masala vibe the film aims for. The music, apart from “Tere Pyaar Mein,” is forgettable, which is disappointing coming from Himesh Reshammiya.

Final Verdict: Even if you switch off your brain, Badass Ravi Kumar fails to entertain. It’s not just over-the-top—it’s a tiring and chaotic watch that doesn’t even work as guilty pleasure fun.

Badass Ravi Kumar Movie Review: A Chaotic and Exhausting Watch

A wild, crazy, over-the-top ride that transports you to the cinema of 1980s… Don’t ask questions or look for logic… Extra points for its high-energy songs and seetimaar dialogues.

Overall, Badass Ravi Kumar is an entertaining ride packed with action, powerful dialogues, and vibrant music. Despite a few technical flaws, it offers a nostalgic masala experience that will appeal to Himesh Reshammiya fans and action enthusiasts alike.

Movie Review By: Manisha Karki

The Himesh Reshammiya starrer is a movie that unabashedly owns up to providing content that requires logic to be kept at bay. It owns up to its flaws and focuses on serving pure entertainment to the masses. That is also what will eventually strike a chord with the public.
