The second episode of Season 2, titled “What If… Peter Quill Attacked Earth’s Mightiest Heroes?”, commences in 1988. Peggy Carter and Howard Stark, following Earth’s shield of superheroes, realize that Peter is attempting to create a super-team of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Several important figures in the Avengers universe are included in this team, such as Bill Foster, Hank Pym, Dr. Wendy Lawson, and King T’Chaka. Later on, Peter and Thor become a menace to Earth. Hank’s daughter, Hope, sees Peter as a misunderstood kid and decides to set him free using Hank’s shrinking machine. The Avengers then discuss whether to capture Peter and talk to him. Ultimately, they opt for a more direct approach and take aim at him with a sniper rifle.

In the later part of the story, the group’s decision takes a drastic turn upon Ego’s arrival, which prompts them to activate the seedling. Peggy and Thor, along with the others, engage in a fierce battle against Ego’s sand monsters. Meanwhile, Hank and Wendy try to persuade Peter before the Winter Soldier can take a shot.
