The tragic plane crash that took place many years ago, which he survived with his wife and cousin, ultimately claimed the lives of his cousin Francisco Abal and later his wife Liliano Navarro. While he lived on for a considerable amount of time after the event, he eventually passed away due to cancer on June 4, 2015, at the age of 79 in Uruguay.
